Description
Expect your dog to come and leave wagging from Rocko’s Doggie Day School—a fun, group-based daycare socialization experience in a comfortable home environment with a qualified and experienced trainer.
Rocko’s Day School takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at my home in southeast Austin, where I give social dogs a chance to be in a group play setting and learn self-regulation in a home environment akin to their own. A smaller kennel population helps minimize your dog’s stress compared to a larger kennel with a more dynamic—and sometimes overstimulating—experience. Rest time is also important, so there will be periods where your dog will be in their own individual indoor rest space or kennel with access to water.
Your pup will also get a chance to work on basic training skills like name response, recall from play, group obedience (sit, down, leave it, place), check overs and handling practice based on cooperative care and comfort level, and impulse control (thresholds, counter surfing, food). If you have specific goals around basic life skills and obedience, Rocko’s Day Training program adds additional services to the Doggie Day School.
Day School is for dogs who benefit from dog-to-dog interactions. Dogs who are working on behavior issues like reactivity, separation anxiety, or aggression are not a good fit for this program. All new client dogs must be screened for behavior issues during a required trial day before their first Day School session to ensure the safety and comfort of all students. All dogs attending Day School must be fully vaccinated and current for Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella, and must be potty trained. Puppies who are at least four-months old and are fully vaccinated for required vaccines can attend Day School.
